The Random Number Book Tag

Going back into my backlog of book tags, here’s one that is both fun and easy! I was tagged by Madeline @ The Bookish Mutant, who always finds the best tags! This one was a good opportunity to look at some of the books on my TBR and ask myself “Will I actually read this?”

RULES:

  • Link back to the original creator (The Corner of Laura) and link back to this page (otherwise, the original creator won’t get a notification).
  • Thank whoever tagged you and link back to their post
  • Go to your preferred random number generator, set the number limit to the exact number of books on your TBR list (on Goodreads or any other equivalent list) and generate 7 different numbers.
  • Find the books on your TBR list that correspond with those numbers
  • Explain why you added it, try to predict what you will think of it now and decide whether you’re going to keep it on your TBR or delete it.
  • (Optional) Challenge yourself to read the ones you decide to keep within seven weeks
  • (Optional) Tag 5 or more other people.

RANDOM BOOK 1: The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare

I want to get to all of Shakespeare’s plays at some point, but having seen productions and adaptations of this one, it’s not high on my list. I’m going to keep it on my TBR.

RANDOM BOOK 2: Interim Goddess of Love by Mina V. Esguerra

I’m not quite sure why I added this one?? I mean, it looks fine but not like something that would grab me. I feel like I added it on a whim, and I’ll probably keep it there in case I need something easy and light.

RANDOM BOOK 3: Pride & Prejudice & Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith

This one I added because it was such a big thing for a little while there. My tolerance for subpar retellings of Austen has steadily decreased over the past few years, however, so I’m taking less chances. Also, I really don’t like zombies. Off the TBR it comes!

RANDOM BOOK 4: The Keeper of the Bees by Gene Stratton-Porter

I have several of my great-grandmothers well-worn copies of Gene Stratton-Porter novels, and I went to through a real phase in my teens when I was obsessed with them. This is one I haven’t read, and I’m curious to see how I like Stratton-Porter as an adult, so I’m keeping it.

RANDOM BOOK 5: The Trouble With Angels by Jane Trahey

This 1962 book was made into a popular film with Rosalind Russell and Hayley Mills — and directed by Ida Lupino! I actually can’t remember if I’ve seen the movie in full, but I’d like to, and the book sounds fun. Keeping it.

RANDOM BOOK 6: Still Lives by Maria Hummel

I added this one because it might be a possibility for the book club I host at work, but I’m only keeping it for that purpose.

RANDOM BOOK 7: Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim

I actually tried the first two chapters of this and wasn’t pulled in by it, so it’s going off the TBR! I really enjoyed the first book, Spin the Dawn, however.

If you haven’t done this tag yet — or even if you have and want to do it again with different numbers — consider yourself tagged!
